It takes teachers, principals, parents, food service managers, and students to work together toward school wellness efforts. The School Board approved the policy and wellness plan in response to a federal requirement that is based on the rising concern of obesity and student wellness. The content of the new Wellness Plan includes nutrition and physical activity guidelines, nutrition education goals, and staff wellness initiatives. All schools and central departments will be working towards the implementation of this plan over the next three years. School Wellness CommitteesEach year, all Prince William County Public Schools form Wellness Committees comprised of staff and community members. One member from each school is then selected to meet with the Wellness Advisory Committee (WAC). The Wellness Advisory Committee includes members from our community such as the Prince William Health Partnership. The meeting dates for the 2012.13 school year are Thursday, October 14, 2012, Thursday, January 17, 2013, and Thursday, April 11, 2013.
